What We Check and Improve

  • Safety devices: photocells, safety edges, loops, emergency stops and safety inputs
  • Risk areas: crushing points, hinge gaps, drawing-in points, impact zones and ground risks
  • Force and obstacle response: force settings, sensitivity and safe stop/reverse behaviour
  • Controls and access: intercoms, keypads, GSM, fobs, receivers and safe user operation
  • Mechanical condition: hinges, posts, rollers, tracks, guides, stops, welds and leaf movement
  • Electrical integrity: cable condition, joints, enclosures, isolation, earthing and water ingress risks
We work across major automation brands including CAME, BFT, FAAC, NICE, Beninca and LiftMaster.

Common Safety & Compliance Issues We Find

Missing safety edgesEdges are often required where crushing risk exists and cannot be otherwise eliminated.
Photocells not aligned or not workingMisalignment, cable damage or incorrect wiring can defeat safety protection.
Unsafe hinge or pillar gapsCrush points and trapping risks can exist even on “nice looking” gates.
Incorrect force settingsOver-force gates can cause injury or damage if obstacle detection is ineffective.
Water ingress in boxesFailed seals and poor enclosures lead to shorts, faults and unsafe operation.
Requests to disable safetyWe cannot remove safety devices or bypass protection. Waivers do not make this compliant.
Where a risk cannot be controlled, we will advise the correct upgrade path or recommend suspension of use.

We help make electric gates safe, compliant and reliable

GateSafe Compliance FAQs

What is GateSafe and why does it matter?
GateSafe is a safety-focused training and awareness standard for powered gates. It matters because unsafe gates can cause serious injury. A compliant installation requires correct risk assessment, safety devices and safe force/obstacle response.
Can I sign a waiver to disable safety devices?
No. Disabling safety devices is non-compliant and we will not bypass safety systems. A waiver does not remove legal responsibility or duty of care.
What laws and standards apply to electric gate safety?
We work in line with the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, PUWER 1998, relevant BS EN standards including 12453 and 12445, and HSE electric gate safety guidance.
Do you provide reports for managing agents and facilities teams?
Yes. We can provide clear notes on observed risks, safety device status, faults found and recommended corrective actions.
What are your call-out charges?
Standard hours (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm) are £160 + VAT and include the call-out plus the first hour on site for diagnosis, safety checks or repair.

Out-of-hours (after 5pm and weekends) are £320 + VAT including the first hour.

Bank holidays and the Christmas period are charged at £480 + VAT (triple time) including the first hour.

Additional labour after the first hour is £80 + VAT per hour. Sites over 20 miles may be subject to a fuel surcharge, and any tolls, tunnels or congestion charges are added at cost.
